Can the Chroma Console Beat the Generation Loss…AND the MOOD…AT THE SAME TIME????
February 26, 2024, Pedals
As I started diving into the Hologram Electronics Chroma Console, I began to unlock so man...
When I first heard about the Matthews Effects Technician Dual-Channel Auditory Manipulator I was skeptical. Another reverb/delay/looper right? There’s no way it uncovers something new. It’s gotta just be another gimmick in a sleek package…and yes, it is indeed a sleek package. On that there is no doubt. It’s as if Apple designed a pedal, with its function, form, and beauty. But how can it sound anything different?
What Matthews Effects has done here is taken all the essentials of an ambient powerhouse, delay, reverb, and looper, and given the user proper control over all the modulations and controls. 4 different delays and reverbs with 4 combinable modulators each. Add to that 3 different types of loopers with its own set of combinable modulators, give it effect order switching, midi, espression, presets, and all the mono/stereo functionality you could ask for and you’ve got a TKO in a surprisingly small package.
For me it takes the things I love about the Chase Bliss MOOD and the Hologram Microcosm, and smashes them into a sleek and small box, and I’ve barely scratched the surface! Definitely don’t sleep on the Technician!
