Can the new Meris Mercury X Modular Stereo Reverb match the iconic sounds of the Chase Bli...
It seems there’s a LOT packed into this Phantom Limb granular looper & delay by Discomfort Designs. We had so much fun with our FIRST SOUNDS video (https://youtu.be/CLlfwcqt_qs) and wanted to break down everything that’s going on inside this single box. The Phantom Limb packs quite a punch and yet is extremely easy to use!
6 knobs, all smartly laid out and clearly labeled. 3 switches. 2 footswitches with simple secondary control. Virtually ZERO complication. No menu diving. No secondary knob functions to get list in. No DIP switches. None of that.
It’s simple layout and controls does leave some features wanting. There’s no tap tempo for the delay. No expression or MIDI control. No presets. No stereo function. Womp womp.
The looper isn’t a traditional looper with start/stop/dub functions. It’s a 15/30/60 second buffer of your past audio that retriggers 9 various loopers at random “chance” encounters. It’s fabulously wonderful and musical and simple. Then add the simple to use filter and you can adjust the tone to your liking without any fuss!
The controls and functions are so simple you’ll be very surprised with how much brain function you have to focus on playing! Imagine that!
Thanks for hanging out with us as we explore the functions and sounds of the Phantom Limb!
